Features and Benefits

Easy to use - only one coat is required, reducing labor and storage and shipping costs Versatile - excellent adhesion to a variety of silicone materials
Strong Environmental Resistance -Excellent resistance to many harsh use environments Disposability - In most cases, the dilution ratio is 500-1000%, using anhydrous alcoholic solvents as diluents

Instructions

SURFACE PREPARATION - Thoroughly clean metal surfaces before applying adhesive. Use solvent-based degreasers or alkaline cleaners to remove protective oils, cutting oils and grease from metal surfaces. Choose appropriate chemical cleaning and mechanical cleaning methods to remove rust and oxide layers on metal surfaces.

  • Chemical cleaning Chemical treatment can be used for metal parts that will be deformed during sandblasting or where the tolerance requirements are very strict. Phosphating is a common chemical treatment method for steel, and conversion coating is usually used for aluminum.
  • mechanical cleaning
Sandblasting is the most common method of mechanical cleaning. In addition, mechanical cleaning methods include steel brush cleaning, grinding or machining. Use steel grit to blast steel, cast iron or other ferrous metals. For stainless steel, aluminum, brass, zinc, and other non-ferrous metals use aluminum oxide, sand, or other non-ferrous metal grit.

For further details on surface preparation methods for substrates, refer to the Chemlok Adhesive Application Guide. Clean gloves should be worn when cleaning the metal surface to prevent oil from the skin from contaminating the metal surface.

Agitation - Chemlok 608 is preferably highly diluted when used. The specific dilution ratio depends on the type of rubber, the substrate and the performance requirements of the adhesive. The best dilution plan is to use methanol as the diluent, and the volume dilution ratio is 5-10 parts of methanol to one part of adhesive.

Coating - After the adhesive is coated, let it dry naturally at room temperature for 10-30 minutes. A heat source can be used to speed up drying and shorten drying time. When forced drying, the temperature range is 65-93°C and the time is 5-10 minutes. The drying effect is the best at low temperature and high air volume.

Drying/curing - The workpiece coated with adhesive can be bonded immediately after natural air drying. If it needs to be placed for a long time before bonding, the workpiece coated with adhesive should be avoided from being polluted during storage. Adhesive-coated workpieces can be stored for up to three days before bonding, but if the humidity is high, the storage time will be greatly shortened. For best results, the application of the adhesive and the application of the adhesive should be done within the same day.

Chemlok 608 has been successfully used to bond a variety of silicone materials offered in commercial production. For each elastomer, use the manufacturer's recommended cure temperature and time. Silicone rubber and metal bonded with Chemlok 608 can withstand most harsh environmental conditions in end use.
